what are these "proportions" they speak of?

serious, dawg, this anatomy is goofed the fuck out.

Anime expressions don't excuse lack of foundation.

the hands look a little crippled, and there's too many little things for me to go over actually so bringing up hands is a moot point. Here's an important one: clothes don't work that way, hell breasts don't even work that way. Their clothes are shiny or something? idk

Sin-sister responds:

All fair points. This was, more or less, my first drawing in this genre, I didn't have a lot of practice before-hand.

Thanks for the review, but perhaps you should comment on something more recent

HAHA OH MAN

This is so funny, clearly not dated or overdone at all, MAN this is funny

Jae responds:

thanks man hah

well fuck

as much work as you put into it, it'd be really swell if you had the capacity to simply fullview what you're doing and see how fucking cluttered the entire piece is. The composition of everything is fucked, and it doesn't matter how "good" you draw; you could have a million good things in the wrong places, and they'll just look like shit as a whole, which is what's happening here. The shitty GIMP effects I can let slide seeing that it's all you do without restraint; the figure itself is moderately better than usual (although still filled with crippling disfigurations), but goddamn, all you had to do was add some TINY DEGREE of negative space between the subject and the background, and shit would look 20 times better.

You know, negative space, the shit your art teacher would go over time and time again but for some reason you sought to only use it once because she said so and never again?

DragonPunch responds:

What's negative space?

little things fuck up everything

I love how her thumbs stick out of her wrists like that.

If you want something to be see-through, rather than doing the outline, do a rough fill of the object being veiled.

For a second I thought she was a centaur from how weird those legs look

Her eyebrows droop in THROUGH her eyes as far as I can tell

the hair seems to only cling on to her front in gobbed up clumps. Actually, how is it she's sticking the veil through her hair without being effected by the weight of her incredibly thick hair.

If the rings are as loose as they're meant to appear, they should probably be sliding down her arm by now. If they're like that due to motion, no other part of her body is implying motion whatsoever. Her pose is extremely static like she's stopping for a picture, yet the bangles are floating around her arms like rings of Saturn.

The loincloth panty thing is mis-placed. It should be more on her front than it should be facing the audience directly, especially considering her body isn't facing the camera much at all.

Nice photostock ocean image.

The bright and vivid photoshop-effect "grass" you have behind her is very distracting, especially when put up against her vague and unflattering color scheme. Brown and baby blue are more or less neutral colors; they don't stand out as much as a hot pink does.

I'm not really trying to be a "hey fuck you stop drawing" guy. Take what I said into consideration and see how you can improve. I'm pointing out flaws, not pointing to the door to get out.

DragonPunch responds:

Okay, I'll fix it next time ^_^!

stolen

but I like how you couldn't even identify that this was made with influence from Warhammer 40k.

Because you didn't make this.

chikito1744 responds:

is not stolen cockface and i know what is warhammer 40k

resubmission? for shame

I'd give like a 6 but you lose points for trying to save face through resubmission.

The shades and highlights are all over the place. Where is your light source? Is her skin a rubbery texture? You left lighting like it is. There's a highlight streak on her hair where she's lying over it. What's that about?

The horns don't seem to connect to the skull but that's being petty.

The pose seems stiff and forced, almost like you traced it from somewhere else. I'm not saying you did, but it almost seems like it, especially considering your history with variated poses is more loose than this.

Speaking of which, the pose itself seems weird. With no scenery to interact with, the subject seems like it's sort of floating in space, striking a pose accidentally while trying to figure out how to move in zero-gravity.

And as always, your tags of SEXY | ANIME | COMICS | BABE is as creepy, egotistic, and hilarious as ever.

DragonPunch responds:

Actually what I did was go in and edit, but it wouldn't let me change the file of what I had uploaded, so I was stuck in a rather unpleasant corner there. I couldn't just change the file, because it just would not let me.

hell yes

love this show and love this image

long live the 90's

TheShadling responds:

We're there dude!

it's ok

something's wrong with her face as usual but I won't even bother bringing that up much any more.

Her left arm looks stretched out and deformed. I bet she can touch her calf standing up straight without any effort. The hand seems like it's out of the socket, like it's broken so she's balancing it like that to prevent injury.

You really ought to stop abusing photoshop, because all the pink shit you put in the back and the effects on your handwriting really devalued the piece as a whole. I mean, gradient? REALLY? I remember when that was a decent background effect back in 2001. The shadow seems weird considering she's keeled on the floor. Don't you think that, aesthetically, since the viewer has a raised point of view, that the shadow should be pointing a different direction?

Simplicity is more eye-catching than complexity. My eye immediately wandered to the top right of the screen where it says TO HILARY! because the contrast of black and white is more visually inviting than blue on blue on dithered pink.

Really, I just think you should stop using photoshop effects "because you can" and start using them only to add more appeal to the piece.

Man, it's hard writing reviews without being an asshole.

DragonPunch responds:

Well, then don't review my art if you feel like that you can't review without being an asshole. You'll feel lousy and miserable without expressing your true honest opinions, and you'll regret writing "Man, it's hard to review without being an asshole". Because, you won't have the balls to review anymore. Hey, be honest. You can be as harsh and mean as you want. Doesn't I'll stop using photoshop and experimenting with what I can do on it. With enough practice, I'll get 10x maybe even 100x better. That's why I practice. But, seriously...Don't "it's hard to review without being an asshole", just be honest. I do it all of the time and I feel good about myself. So, just be honest with me. I won't get butt-hurt or act childish (anymore).

pro

not as good as the original, but hey, not everybody can be a master.

Araelyn responds:

Fo shoooo.

it's ok

I wish you'd pay more attention to detail, and wouldn't just scribble and call it an "artistic style," but hey, fans are always weird.

The diagonal lines gave it a sense of energy, but the fact that you didn't erase the base head shape made it come off as just weird.

Celx-Requin responds:

Hello,

I tried to make it so the artwork in "Cooljaw" fit in the context of the story,
If you take a look at shark, the art is similar but the lines are cleaner.

I digress, I can understand your criticism, in the not too distant future I'll be releasing some of my other artwork, I hope you come back and take a look at that stuff as I feel it may be more to your liking.

Thanks again for the review!
Sincerely,
- Celx
